The John Muir Trail is a 220 mile path through and by the peaks and lakes of the Sierra. Big summits in the southern Sierras and high passes and lakes throughout the trail supply hikers with a constant sense of wonder. This trip requires significant planning for fitness, logistics, and permit acquisition--so start your preparation early. The video below offers a clear idea (40 minutes) of what the trail is like and how to prepare for the trail. I also provide planning recommendations, helpful links, and a gear list below. I respond to all posts in the comment section.
